OpenBelgium.be, an initiative launched by Krimson in collaboration with the Belgian open data community, aims to promote the use of open data in Belgium. We want to strive to open up as much data as possible and to make that data easily available & usable. That way, people can be informed better, software developers can work with the data to create interesting applications, and scientists can build upon freely available research data.

In a first phase, www.openbelgium.be is a tool to promote open data, and serves as an open data catalog. People can easily add their own datasets, add links to intesting info on open data or to tools to work with open data.

Later, OpenBelgium.be may start up a mash-up competition, provide tutorials on how to work with open data, become a community site for Belgian open data lovers, ...
