Bureau MaRiT is a Dutch series of detective novels written by ED Vermeulen. The novels revolve around the female detective Marit, who runs her own detective bureau in Rotterdam. The books are easy to read and each book contain several cases involving murder, romance and some drama. Rotterdam is one of the largest port cities in the world. Many historical buildings were lost in the WWII bombardments which caused a huge transformation into a cool, modern city with architectural centerpieces. This sleek setting is the backdrop for Bureau MaRit and is translated through the website's design and book illustrations. As a token of appreciation, there is a brief mentioning of Krimson in the storyline of the first book.
The first three novels were released December 2011 together with the new Drupal website, which replaced the existing Drupal 5 website. The website serves as sales platform for the books, but also updates, a blog and a mechanism to read free chapters online. While e-pubs are becoming a widely accepted phenomena, the free online 'webisodes' are a fairly unique concept. With thousands of novels published each year, chances of getting people out to read your book is a challenge. By publishing the chapters of one of the series as episodes online, the writer hopes to get people to read Bureau MaRiT more easily and create a loyal fanbase to begin with.
The website was designed and developed by Krimson and actively maintained by Imre Gmelig Meijling, who shares a household and a son with the writer.
