Air Miles is an international organization which manages loyalty programs. Registered customers acquire Air Miles with each purchase from a participating merchant. Air Miles Shop is the official e-shop which sells articles and incorporates a redeeming of -you guessed it- Air Miles.
The client, Nebus Loyalty, contracted Krimson to build a new web shop. Rather than restructure the existing site, a bold decision was made: Krimson would build the entire shop anew.
The first challenge was to keep the development process swift at minimum cost.
Flexibility proved to be our second challenge. The project featured some rather unique requirements which we could not satisfy within the boundaries of readily available code. As saving Air Miles is very popular, it translates in heavy traffic load and high order volumes and the Krew worked hard to take the 'impact of caching' into account.
