FOSDEM 09 - Free and Open Source Software Developers European Meeting
FOSDEM, probably the most developer-oriented Free and Opensource conference, takes place in Brussels, Belgium on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February 2009. Apart from having many invited speakers, the conference offers developer rooms, stands and lightning talks to projects from the Free and Opensource community.

Last year about 4000 visitors attended this free (as in 'no money') conference.

Drupal has a history at Fosdem. In 2005 there was a great DevRoom [I got an Eureka moment there when John Vandyck explained his vision for cck], in 2006 Drupal had an impressive booth in the corridors :-) (see picture below)
This year we got a 200 seats DevRoom filled with very interesting talks by Dries and Gabor, Morten and Bèr, Thomas Bonte and Thomas Moseler, Wim Mostrey, Robert Douglass, etc...

In 2009 we will, again, try to get a DevRoom secured for Drupal-related presentation.
Let's meet in the Drupal Group for Fosdem 2009 (it's actually a rename of last years group) to discuss some ideas for presentations.

But after meeting Roel in Sunnyvale, CA they both felt that leaving the Banking World of Dour for the cowboy lifestyle of Drupal Development was the right thing to do. This Technical Drupal Architect Ninja Master recently had to push back his suicidal craze for parachute jumping, sky diving and other life threatening adventures to be converted into a responsible parent.
