The Krimson krew is totally prepared for the upcoming DrupalCon in London! Of course, we'll be presenting. On Tuesday 23rd August, Swentel and jyve will give a session about Display Suite for Drupal 7. They'll introduce you to a whole set of updated and new features which will make building websites a breeze. They'll also have a couple of surprises in store.

After last year's absence, on June 20th 2011 Krimson attended DrupalJam as Gold Sponsor. And it was well worth it: The 7th edition of DrupalJam was hosted at an astounding venue, courtesy of the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum. This extraordinary piece of architecture really does justice to Drupal's adulthood, which it reached with release 7, early January. The interior of the colorful glassbased building was surreal and comforting. The spacious atrium offered more than enough place for sponsors to properly present themselves.

Multi-Mania 2011 was a blast. This year marks the 11th edition of the conference at the Xpo in Kortrijk and with almost 1.800 attendees, the conference was a success. The day kicked off with a keynote from Adobe, the main sponsor of the event. They talked about some of the new cool features in the Creative Suite 5.5.

It’s the time of the year, all the Drupal geeks are packing their bags and getting ready for Drupalcon Chicago 2011. Unfortunatly not everyone is going to the windy city of Chicago. So the Krimson krew members that are staying here in Belgium, decided to organize 3 days of Drupal geekiness and work for the community.

Here at Krimson, we've almost recovered from this weekends' Drupal Developer Days meeting in Brussels. Up until now, the yearly rendezvous between Drupal developers was part of the larger FOSDEM event, but this time, a separate, parallel event was organized to answer the growing demand for more knowledge from an expanding community. This edition of the Drupal Developer Days became a downright hit. Somewhere between 400 – 500 Drupal enthousiasts from all over the world descended upon Brussels for a weekend of Drupal, catching up and beer. (Movie by Nico Grienauer)

And so, after nearly 3 years of production, project lead Dries Buytaert has announced that Drupal 7 will be released on january 5th, 2011. It has been a long stretch but a new major version of our favorite framework is finally upon us.

Last month we wrapped up DrupalVolCon in Antwerp: it was an awesome community event with interesting sessions, lots of informal networking & learning, and loads of Drupal geekery. Most of the VolCon sessions were pretty advanced, aimed at experienced Drupal developers & themers. One of the sessions that definitely sparked an interest among many of us, was the presentation on code driven development by Antonio De Marco of Nuvole. Not too long after Antonio's presentation, it became clear that there was sufficient interest in a follow-up event, specifically aimed at code driven development for Drupal.

DrupalConSF 2010 was a big success with about 3.000 attendees, proving again that Drupal is hot! Unfortunately, a lot of European drupalistas could not make it to San Francisco due to the volcanic ashcloud. Team Krimson was among the unlucky ones. Like most European conference goers, we were grounded. But we don't give up that easily; instead of going to DrupalCon we brought DrupalCon to us. Krimson organized its own DrupalVolCon satellite conference last week, at the same time as DrupalCon SF.

This weekend (that starts in a few minutes!) FOSDEM 2009 will receive several thousands of european and international visitors. While Batigolix and I are making the last arrangements, the first international Drupal people are arriving in Brussels and discovering the city. Others are nervously working on their presentations.
