Krimson organizes a Drupal Training Spring 2010 event spanning three days (10 - 12 march 2010). Drupal has become increasingly popular. While companies start using Drupal for their projects, developers have to adapt to new ways of writing code and building websites. Knowing how Drupal works and how you can extend it to meet functional requirements is a key skill. This training focuses on sharing Drupal development knowledge. We want to give module developers, themers and administrators to be - those who will work with Drupal on a daily basis - a head start in the right direction when they venture into Drupal.
Each day will focus on a particular part of dealing with Drupal.
Day one gives a broad introduction to Drupal: what is Drupal? What can Drupal do for you? How do you install Drupal? What are the core principles and concepts behind Drupal? How can you extend Drupal functionality with the right mix of modules which suit your needs? We will provide an insight into how Drupal works and what you can do with it. Target audience: drupal administrators and developers.
Day two will give you an insight into Drupal module development. The real power of Drupal lies in it's modular design and how extra functionality can be added through third party modules. The range of available Drupal modules can take you quite far, however, there are times when a developer needs to implement a custom module to meet demands. We will introduce you to the Drupal API. What hooks are available? How do I write my own module? How can I bend existing functionality without breaking compatibility? Target audience: functional developers.
Day three will focus on theming. Drupal comes with a flexible and powerful templating system which allows separation of presentation of content and business logic. Theming takes a significant part of the development of a Drupal driven site. We will show you how you can take a design and transform it in a flexible Drupal theme. Target audience: front end Drupal developers.
